What if it were Waitrose?
Would opposition to a new supermarket be the same if it were Waitrose moving in rather than Tesco?

Waitrose instead of Tesco
I think the worries would still be the same i.e competition with the High Street, dealing with a big organisation. However, you could argue that Waitrose is a more upmarket store and would not be competing as aggressively on a price front. In addition, Waitrose could well encourage more of the genre of visitors with money to spend elsewhere in the town.
Would Waitrose attract as many people to the town?
