CHARITY RACE NIGHT

Friday 17th October 2008 - 7.30pm start

Venue: Great Blakenham Village Hall, Nr IPSWICH

4 A "Section 106" agreement is conditions placed upon a planning approval to mitigate any adverse effects of the development. How should any funds raised then be channeled

4a Used to support retail trade primarily

4b Used for the benefit of the residents and community

4cUsed to promote Hadleigh overall to attract new visitors and customers

4d Used to finance a part-time town manager

The Chamber has an opportunity to suggest Section 106 projects now. Do you have any recommendations?

“Strong enforcement of this Section and public knowledge of it.”

“Fund the new swimming pool”

“Any funds received from Tesco should be used to improve the River Walk on the West side of the Brett. In this way the Hadleigh Residents and community will benefit and the whole area adjacent to the River will become a visitor attraction. The River Walk is currently a disgrace with rotting trees, broken branches and litter throughout.”

“The town is not being properly promoted by existing paid organisations and it is falling to volunteers to fill this role. Promoting the town is too important not to be address professionally. Use the funds to help existing businesses prepare for Tesco (i.e. get the money before the open) and used to counter the effects for the following 5 years at least.”

“A Tesco store is going to have an impact on the number of people visiting Hadleigh. It is important that these shoppers are encouraged to explore Hadleigh beyond the supermarket car park. A project that delivers that result would benefit most folk. Can the existing infrastructure handle the increased volume of traffic? The roads are difficult enough at 9am.”

“Youth drop in, Community Centre, Town Manager, Hanging Gardens of Hadleigh, Hadleigh in Bloom, Marketing Initiative for the town, New footbridge from Emily Panks across the river, Tourist coach parking, Adequate shopper parking, New swimming pool, Longer term parking, maintenance of walkway to Tesco”

“Improve paving south end of High Street. Put electricity wires underground”

“Closing High Street to traffic, Better Town centre signage, Better street lighting”

“Provide larger Babergh DC car park to avoid street parking”
