Eight Bells Hadleigh, Thursday 2 February 2012
Firstly, may I wish our members a happy and successful New Year and, secondly, extend my apologies for the unfortunate cancellation of the January breakfast meeting.
Hadleigh Choral Society’s year starts in the autumn with a major concert (end of November or early December). The second major concert is presented usually just before Easter. Both concerts feature a varied programme of music chosen by the choir’s Director of Music, conductor Christopher Phelps.
The 80-strong choir is accompanied by the Colchester Orchestra which provides orchestral items in addition to the choral works performed. They are joined by leading East Anglian soloists and rehearsal accompanist John Cooper who plays organ, harpsichord and piano as required by the programme.
Concerts are held in Hadleigh’s St Mary’s Church where there is seating for about 250 people.
