Help with Government Contracts

Can anyone locally help with some advice on getting larger local, regional and national government contracts? We are a small company but have a complete package that is pretty unique in the Internet Market. We now think it's time to start going for some of the larger, and probably government, contracts. However, getting onto national and regional government and council supplier lists, and getting around the "favoured existing supplier" situations that appear to exist, is not obvious. We've found where larger contracts are advertised on OJUC and some departmental websites, but trawling these almost every day for every department is an overhead we can't always afford. There are companies that do it for you but charge a lot for it - and the contracts we seek are not frequent. Just a thought but ... Is there enough interest around the Chamber for us to share the task of trawling the sites. If there are 4 other companies interested we can each take on one day and look out for each other's contracts. We can widen the search as well. If not does anyone have experience of bidding for this type of contracts. How did you get around the pre-judgements that seem to exist in the departments? How did you get them to widen their view, to look at new suppliers - particularly in the IT and Internet environment?
