Christmas Late Night Shopping
Would it be better for the shops to open an at least one evening other than the "Lighting up" day?
Our experience is that there is not enough time for Christmas shopping on the "Light up evening" for serious shopping.
Comments and suggestions for next year please.

Open a little later
I think that would be a great idea Keith - not just one long evening but perhaps a regular occurence on, say, the two Tuesday nights leading up to Christmas week until perhaps 8pm. Not an evening to compete with Ipswich late night and preferrably not competing with other larger events in the town. If it became a regular session then people may organise other events around it (or to coincide with it).
There never is enough time to get ready for Christmas.

Christmas shopping
Having a couple of late night openings before Christmas may be better for traders on an evening other than the lighting up ceremony; as suggested by Keith. We stayed open late last year and didn't see a soul. I would happily suppert a chamber arranged event for the benefit of all shops rather than just those in the centre. It's the end of March now so only 9 months to Christmas....
Time to start preparing!
