Where do people in Hadleigh eat out now Weavers has closed? Where do you go for an anniversary meal if you don't want Chinese or Indian food and don't want to drive? With the loss of both Weavers and Smugglers we are seriously short of restaurants. Any good chefs out there looking for an opportunity?

The plan was for Smugglers to become an Indian restaurant. However, it would seem work has stopped apparently due to planning problems. Who knows what will happen now. And the property that housed Weavers is still up for sale. Would be good if this stayed as a restaurant. Another Indian and we could become the curry capital of Suffolk!

For those who might be wondering what's happening to the Weavers Building on the High Street, the original buyer of nearly two years ago pulled out as a boundary dispute was created by a neighbour and remained unsolved. This situation continues and won't be resolved until a court hearing, probably in January 08. After that, whatever the outcome of the hearing, the property will be able to be sold, hopefully as a restaurant, as originally intended.

Oportunities
New to Hadleigh and interested to understand the culture a little better. This thread gives me the impression that there is nowhere to get a nice meal in the town - although there are a few public houses that seem to do food. Is there an unexplored market for somewhere to get a good meal, or have the previous businesses dissapeared because there actually is no trade?
