Suffolk New College reopens Hadleigh Learning Centre

Suffolk New College is setting up new one day courses from their Hadleigh Business and Learning Centre and a copy of our latest brochure is attached.

These courses are part of Suffolk New College's response to employer's requests to offer courses that meet the needs of their employees. We will be building on these in our next brochure for April - June 2008. If what you are looking for is not here, please let us know and we will see if we can accommodate your requirements. If you would like further details of the levels and content of the courses being offered, please contact us here at the Business Development Unit either by email bdusuffolk@suffolk.ac.ukor by phone 01473 343626.

Adnams opens in Hadleigh

In what has become more like a charge of the kitchen brigade than a slow march, Adnams has opened its eigth Cellar and Kitchen Store in the high street, within weeks of opening in Stamford, Lincolnshire and Saffron Walden, Essex.

Mixing its eclectic and all too buyable range of kitchenware with its carefully crafted wine store it has turned an unattractive empty store into a vibrant and busy premises, with the promise of shop-based wine tastings.

You could even get yourself a little seasonal mystery. Four times a year, for a variety of prices, the company will send you a mystery case of the buyer's selections, complete with tasting notes

And you won't have to heave your wine purchases around as they do deliver to your door - so much easier to get carried away when there's no lifting and carrying. Already the holders of the East of England Wine Merchant of the Year, and the national Large Independent Merchant of the Year, Adnams is proud of its stock of "truly individual" wines found by buyers "driven by passion".

Whatever drives them, Hadleigh high street is so much more attractive now they're here and the Chamber of Commerce is delighted they are keen to get involved with the town.

Chamber Projects

During the year the Chamber have kicked off a few projects and have some further ideas sitting in the wings waiting some resource. We always welcome help in these endeavours, not necessarily to join the committee but just to spare a little time on an individual project and help with your particular skills.

Crime on the Industrial Estates

Following the open meeting a few volunteers have been looking into what can be done and the costs. The group will be getting back together again in September to gather the resultant information together and we plan, with Babergh's Economic Development team, to hold a second open meeting to explore the options and discuss methods of funding. If you think you have something to offer the working party please get in touch with either Tony Addison (07789 076361 or tony.addison@free-rein.net) or Sue Dawes (Babergh Economic Development on 01473 822801). We'll let you know details of the meeting through the Chamber eNewsletter, Community News and Hadleigh Flyer nearer the time.

Promoting the Town

Again a small working party has been gathered together led by Neil Holden. The group has developed a theme that can be used to promote Hadleigh and the immediate surrounds and offers an opportunity for almost every member company to link in and benefit from the publicity we hope will follow. The issues here will always be people with skills and a little time to help. You will all benefit in the end so if you can spare some time, please contact Neil and offer whatever you can (01473 829373)

Business Network Meetings

Chris Edgar has been doing a really great job and we have three meetings in September and October including lunch at Hintlesham Hall, meeting our MEP and addressing the company car legalities - Directors please take note. Chris is always on the look out for new venues and subjects/presenters. He would welcome some help in this as we hope he will have a lot more on his plate after the AGM (Ed. but that is for you to decide). If you have a small amount of time to help please give him a ring on 01473 826090 or email chris.edgar@edwardjones.com. Or just call him to book up one of the events.
